Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information this website collects, how it is used, and what choices you have. This site is an independent visitor guide to Oktoberfest 2026 and is not operated by the city of Munich or the official festival organisers.

Effective / last updated: 18 September 2026

1. Who is responsible

The operator of this website (oktoberfest2026.net) is the controller for personal data processed through the site. For privacy questions or requests, email admin@oktoberfest2026.net or see our Contact page.

2. What information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

If you contact us by email at admin@oktoberfest2026.net, we process the information you include in that message — for example your name, email address, and the content of your enquiry — so we can respond.

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, standard technical data may be processed by our hosting provider and by services embedded on the site. This typically includes your IP address, browser type and version, device type, approximate location derived from IP, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. This data is used to deliver the site, maintain security, diagnose errors, and understand basic traffic patterns.

We do not ask you to create an account on this website, and we do not knowingly collect payment card details through this site.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage and pixels. This website may use:

  • Essential / technical cookies — needed for basic operation, security, or load balancing where provided by the host.
  • Advertising cookies — set by Google and related advertising partners when Google AdSense (or Google advertising) is active on the site. These help deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and measure ad performance. Depending on your settings and region, ads may be personalised or non-personalised.

We do not currently operate a separate first-party analytics product beyond what hosting and advertising providers may collect as part of their services. If we add additional analytics tools in the future, this policy will be updated.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Operate, secure, and improve the website
  • Respond to messages you send us
  • Display advertising (including via Google AdSense) to help fund the site
  • Comply with legal obligations where applicable

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with service providers who process it on our behalf (such as hosting) and with advertising partners as described below.

5. Third-party services

This website relies on third-party infrastructure and embeds, which may process data under their own policies:

  • Web hosting / CDN — to store and deliver the site
  • Google Fonts — fonts may be loaded from Google’s servers; Google may receive your IP address and related technical data
  • Google AdSense / Google advertising — see section 6

External links on this site (for example to Munich tourism or festival resources) lead to websites we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own.

6. Advertising and Google AdSense

This website uses Google AdSense to show advertisements. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can learn more and manage ad personalisation through Google’s tools:

  • Google Advertising Technologies
  • Google Ad Settings
  • About Google Ads Settings

You can also visit www.aboutads.info for information about interest-based advertising and opt-out choices offered by participating companies (availability varies by region).

Browser settings allow you to block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies may affect site features and how ads are displayed.

7. Legal bases (where applicable)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or a similar jurisdiction, processing may be based on: performance of a request you make (e.g. answering email); legitimate interests in running a secure informational website; consent where required for non-essential cookies or personalised advertising; and/or legal obligation. Requirements differ by country. Where consent is required for cookies or ads, you should only grant it through a valid consent mechanism if and when one is implemented for your region.

8. Data retention

Technical logs held by hosting providers are typically kept for a limited period needed for security and operations. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterward, or longer if required by law. Advertising partners set their own retention periods under their policies.

9. Children’s privacy

This website is a general audience visitor guide. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact us via the Contact page and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information processed through this site. No method of transmission or storage on the internet is completely secure. Please avoid sending sensitive personal data by unsecured email.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to data portability. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise rights related to data we control, contact us via the Contact page. For data held only by Google or other third parties, you may need to use their own tools and policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices, services, or legal requirements change. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you should review the updated policy.
