What to expect on the festival grounds
The Oktoberfest takes place on the Theresienwiese in Munich. The grounds are divided into the main festival area with large beer tents, modern rides, and food stalls, and the Oide Wiesn (Old Wiesn) in the southern part — a separate, historic area with its own entrance, nostalgic rides, traditional festival tents, and a museum tent. Entry to the main grounds is free; the Oide Wiesn has a small admission charge and offers family-friendly ride prices and a unique atmosphere.
Main festival grounds: rides and booths
On the main part of the Theresienwiese you will find the big Oktoberfest beer tents, a giant Ferris wheel, roller coasters, ghost trains, spinning rides, and classic fairground booths. Rides and attractions are pay-per-ride; food and drink are available at the tents and stalls. Opening times generally match the festival schedule — see opening times for details.
