Events
The 2026 Oktoberfest offers a packed programme of parades, ceremonies, and cultural events alongside the famous beer tents and rides.
Opening ceremony
The festival opens on the first Saturday with the traditional barrel tapping. The Mayor of Munich taps the first keg and calls O'zapft Is! (It's tapped!). This marks the official start of the Wiesn.
Grand Entry of the Wiesn landlords
The parade of the Wiesn landlords and breweries opens the festival with decorated floats and horses. It takes place on the first Saturday and is one of the most photographed events.
Costume and Riflemen's parade
Held on the first Sunday, this parade showcases traditional Bavarian and German costumes, rifle clubs, and bands. Thousands of participants march through the city to the Theresienwiese.
Cultural programme
Throughout the festival, brass bands and folk groups perform in the tents and on the grounds. Check the official programme for daily concerts and special events.
